Message: "Leonidas" - Behind the Name

I've been infatuated with the name Leonidas for a while (One of the more popular Israeli singer-songwriters, Yehudah Leon Poliker, was born to Greek-Jewish parents as Leonidas Polikaris). I've noticed that in the popularity charts, it's been given a few hundred American babies since '08 (undoubtedly due to the film 300). In the world of Lion-based names I'd rank it above Leonard but below Leon.

It's certainly handsome! It's a bit too macho for my liking—I prefer Leonard and Leonato.
