I think it's only because it's unfamiliar that it brings me up short. Felicity is fine, after all, so why not Serenity? (I wouldn't use Serena myself, though I don't mind it on other people.) But the krey8iv spelling is just not pleasing at all. I can see their problem, I think: they wanted her name to have something nature-related in it, and Wren is perfect. But if they put a w into Serenity, they'd end up with something much too close to Sewing instead of Se(rW)renity. But, but, but ... Ser should logically sound like Sir, which is hardly helpful, and why replace a harmless t with a d? There are -dy words, like Melody and Threnody, but that's no reason to use a spelling error that isn't even decorative. In fact, Serwrenidy is positively ugly, like a piece of unsuccessful patchwork. The little girl is lucky to have calm, familiar Jean to fall back on: much better than spending a lifetime explaining the inexplicable.
