[Opinions] Serenity
In the newspaper yesterday was an article about a baby girl with a creative spelling of Serwrenidy Jean for her first name. It got me thinking and while I wouldn’t use Serenity myself it does fit in with names like Grace, Zen, Hope, Joy and Serena . WDYT of Serenity?

Serenity is a nice name. That spelling is just cruel.
Dear lord that spelling is completely atrocious.
Serenity is one of those virtue names that's not great in practice. Isn't there a Yu-Gi-Oh! character with that name? (I sound ancient.)
(Also Zen as a first name is also not good.)

I think her middle name should be spelled Jeene just to add to the inconvenience she will suffer over the ridiculous spelling of Serenity.
Prefer Serena or even Serene .
I really want to like it, but I like and dislike it at the same time somehow.
Same. I prefer Serena.
I've seen that Serenity is becoming more popular lately. I personally wouldn't use it, but it's nice.
If the baby ends up being a loud cryer, it would be funny 😆.

The spelling is terrible, but the name is OK. There are not a lot of nicknames for it. I like it way better than other modern names though.
I think it's only because it's unfamiliar that it brings me up short. Felicity is fine, after all, so why not Serenity? (I wouldn't use Serena myself, though I don't mind it on other people.) But the krey8iv spelling is just not pleasing at all. I can see their problem, I think: they wanted her name to have something nature-related in it, and Wren is perfect. But if they put a w into Serenity, they'd end up with something much too close to Sewing instead of Se(rW)renity. But, but, but ... Ser should logically sound like Sir, which is hardly helpful, and why replace a harmless t with a d? There are -dy words, like Melody and Threnody, but that's no reason to use a spelling error that isn't even decorative. In fact, Serwrenidy is positively ugly, like a piece of unsuccessful patchwork. The little girl is lucky to have calm, familiar Jean to fall back on: much better than spending a lifetime explaining the inexplicable.
Serenity's a chilling name. Yikes.
