[Opinions] Opions of Remington
People in the commets said it reminds them of a backwoods boy name, possibly because of the gun association. But to me, it feels more feminine, maybe because it sounds like Brooklyn and London? What do you think of it?
I know the gun association, but please don't talk about your political views. I don't really care about politics, but some people do live for guns which bothers me.

I'm showing my age: my first thought was Remington Steele.
Anyway, the gun association is far too much for me to be comfortable with -- though I will say the stereotype suggesting that guns are inherently associated with "backwoods" people in a derogatory way is reductive and frustrating.

It's fine for a boy. He could go by Remy or Tony. I can't see it on a girl.
I don't like it at all, it's too macho and surnamey. It's really bad on a girl.
I know two elementary school-age boys with this name, both at my church. I think it's a fine name, though I don't think it's particularly feminine.
Well it does remind me of guns because my dad buys Remington ammo, and I've seen the boxes around my whole life.
Other than that, I think of Remington Steele (before my time but I still know about it and associate Pierce Brosnan with James Bond). Which makes it seem a bit cheesy or try-hard suave, like a name popularized by a soap opera.
It sounds ok, though. I don't think it seems feminine but have no problem imagining it as a woman's name, since Remy is being used for girls and surnames are popular for girls. It doesn't sound like Brooklyn to me at all, though there are places called Remington; I'd sooner associate Remedios and Wellington based on sound, or Sawyer based on vibe.

It doesn't sound unisex to me, but like a surname. If I'd encounter it as a fn, I'd assume it's for a boy though. It doesn't give off any feminine vibes to me whatsoever. A woman named Remington would be weird to me. A boy named Remington, hopefully with nn Remi or Remy, which I adore for a boy, would be nice though.
The gun association is only now there for me bc you mention it. I'm familiar with it, but not first thing I'd think of.

Remington is inconveniently long. Remy is like half a remedy. Brooklyn and London are place names, and Remington seems to be only products. It is part of the current fashion for place-and-product names, and I expect it to fade like most fads.
i hadn't heard of the gun so i don't have that association. it sounds pretty unisex to me. i think it's cute.
Not a fan
Remington is definitely unisex, and it does feel redneck because of the hunting rifle association. I've known a few Remingtons and they were all in the south or in rural areas (including a cousin from the Ozarks).
I don't like it personally, I don't like guns and I don't think it's cool, neat, or funny to name kids after something used to kill people and animals.
I love the name Remy though, which is what my cousin goes by.

Daisy has other meanings, Remington is known for guns, the rifle's short name is Remington... there is a difference. I'm just not a fan.
