Elaina - I like Elaine and Elena very much, but Elaina is forgettable. I don't like the spelling.Agnes - I'm surprised it hasn't made a comeback yet, it's vintage and cosy. It could work really well as a middle name.Ruby - I remember liking Ruby, then disliking it because I thought it was childish and basic, but now I appreciate it again (the same happened with Daisy).Aubrey - I see the appeal, but I prefer it on a boy.Nevaeh - this one got a lot of unjustified hate back in the past, but it's more coherent than most -lyn(n) names. I like it.Sydney - looks and sounds nice on both genders. It's also an approachable place name.Heaven - nope! It sounds over-the-top and ridiculous. In order of preference:Agnes > Ruby > Sydney > Nevaeh > Aubrey > Elaina > Heaven
Aubrey, Alaina, Ruby, Heaven and Agnes are nice. Naveah is not my type, I don't love Sydney.
Elaina - definitely prefer Elena or Elaine, which are both lovely. This spelling looks off.Agnes - I'm often a fan of older names and hope they make a comeback. This, though, is not one. I find it just very ugly.Ruby - I don't dislike it, but I've always thought it seemed more like a nickname than a given name,Aubrey - Audrey is good. This is simultaneously bland and ambiguous. I actually prefer it on a boy.Nevaeh - A trend name that I genuinely hope is dead and gone.Sydney - I always thought this was ugly and then I watched Alias and now I love it and it's almost exclusively because of Sydney Bristow.Heaven - See above regarding Nevaeh. I actually almost think this is worse because it feels even more devoid of creativity.
Elaina is nice - it's so much more interesting spelled this way than the dull as dishwater Elena.Agnes, I adore. It's so cozy and cute, like a knitted sweater! I like all the different forms of Agnes as well.Ruby - well, this has been my favourite name since I was about 16, and that was.....a long time ago. As a result it's starting to feel a teensy bit childish to me, but I'm still very loyal to it. I love Ruby. It feels so strong and fiery, qualities I would love any daughter to possess.Aubrey - I like this for a boy, in honour of Aubrey Beardsley, the weirdo Victorian artist. But I like it on a girl as well. It's more interesting than Audrey. I get a strong late-fall vibe from it, which is nice.Nevaeh - I'm one of those people who actually prefers this name misspelled as Neveah, because Nevaeh makes me think of someone dying with their last gasp of air escaping as they say it. "Nev....aeh!" It looks like it should be "nev-ay" to me. It's not a bad sound. I like the Nev part. I can't wait for Nevaeh to be a grandma name, I think it'll actually be really cute.Sydney - love this for a boy. It's so 1930s. I'm too old to appreciate how 90s it feels for a girl, it's rather boring to me there.Heaven - Too many teasing possibilities, even for me, who normally argues that most kids won't bully other kids with strange names. Do kids still play "7 minutes in heaven"?

Elaina - much prefer Elaine, or Helena, but especially Helen.
Agnes - sounds better in French; fine as a mn.
Ruby - Tuesday! Love the Stones, dislike gemstone names.
Aubrey - fem? Not a chance. OK for a boy, but Audrey for girls; not that I like it much.
Nevaeh - too much like Never, and who wants to be backward?
Sydney - I know a Jennifer, born while her father was a soldier in the Second World War. His name was Sydney, and it is her middle name, because of him and in case he never came back. Which he did! But that's the only good reason for it as a fem name.
Heaven - OK, so this time it's forward! Still total nonsense as a human name; the thought of a Heaven Lastname appearing in Court on a charge of, well, anything from petty pilfering to mass murder is straight out of a comic novel, but it could happen. Heaven could also have appendicitis, or an unsuccessful love affair, or end up sleeping on the streets ... oh dear.

Elaina - No particularly strong feelings, but it is quite nice and elegant.Agnes - A buried gem. It's the perfectly balanced 'old' name. Mature, but not dreadfully antique. Classic, but not musty. Firm, but not harsh. This is an 'old lady' name that needs a comeback.Ruby - It gained some popularity over the years, but I just never gelled with it. It's juvenile and incomplete to my ears, there's not a lot of substance. I love ruby jewels and the imagery associated, but when turned into a name, something is lost. It somehow becomes dull.Aubrey - I feel nothing strong for this one. Not love, not hate, it's just there. The B in the middle comes out a little nasally and muffled when I try to pronounce it. I have a slightly higher preference for Audrey instead.Nevaeh - This one gets hounded on a lot, but it's perfectly inoffensive to me. Perhaps a smidge tacky at worst, and it's not something I would choose, but I feel it's perfectly usable should anyone feel inclined. It does have a dynamic sound that is enticing, even if the 'eh' at the end leaves something to be desired when it comes to spelling (though yes, I am aware it's heaven spelled backwards, so the 'eh' is necessary to make the whole thing work.)Sydney - Never truly understood the appeal of this one. The sound isn't particularly pleasing to my ears, nor is it fun to say. I usually end up accidentally saying Cindy.Heaven - I do love the enthusiasm and imagery, I understand the thought process someone would have, but personally I can't really see this as a solid name on a person at an individualistic level. Feels less like a personal name and more like an aspiration. A little too on-the-nose. I prefer Haven on a person.
Love love love Ruby!! The rest aren’t my style.
