Probably to do with sonething Britney Spears did? Celebrity names tend to rise and fall pretty quickly depending on controversies.

I think you're right. Britney also fell out of favour but lingered a few years longer (https://www.behindthename.com/name/brittany/top/england-wales?compare=Britney&type=percent).

I think this would make a lot of sense! I think part of it is also its association as a “millennial” name
