Xanthe or Mélusine?
I love that both names have mythological associations, but I can't choose which one I like more. What is your preference and why?

If you pronounce Mélusine French and not American French......I would tend to Mélusine. But not on a real person, I think...
Though, Xanthe is too odd.

Xanthe, naturally :)It being my favourite girls name ever, and my future DD's name. It trumps all others, no matter what the name.I have never heard of Melusine before- I'll have to go look that one up now. Going on sound (as I can't comment on anything else atm) I like Xanthe more, but maybe I am just biased.

I think I like Melusine best. It sounds so mysterious, and I kinda like names that end in "-ine".

I prefer/love Xanthe. It's a beautiful name.Mélusine just isn't an attractive name to me.

Melusine. For (England's) George I's Hanoverian mistress, Ehrengard Melusine von der Schulenburg (sp?). You have to love a name like that. Xanthe is great too, though. Either one is a winner.

Xanthe, though they both sound a bit like the names of medications to me (not certain ones, just like they could be the names of meds, lol).

They're both very pretty, but I prefer Xanthe because it has a cooler sound and reminds me of the character in Troy by Adele Geras (v. good book imo).

I prefer the look and sound of Xanthe. I think it's easier to pronounce and I love the X at the beginning, too. That might seem like a stupid reason for liking a name but I've just always loved the name Xanthe whereas Melusine doesn't really appeal to me as much. It sounds a bit like "me losing" to me (without the G, I guess) :/

Xanthe, prettier, easier to pronounce.

I like both about equally, but today I pick Melusine.

I like Melusine better. It flows and sounds feminine, whereas Xanthe is too close to the popular Xander at the moment.

Xanthe, just because I really dislike accents over names. JMAO. If there wasn't an accent there, it would be hard to choose.

In all honesty, this is the first time I have encountered the name Melusine, and I'm not even sure how to pronounce it. Xanthe, on the other hand, I have loved for a long time. So I may not be the best to judge which name is better :) But for what it's worth, I think Xanthe is awesome. It's very beautiful and spunky at the same time.

Both are gorgeous names, but today I'm liking Melusine that bit more, it sounds softer and regal while Xanthe is pretty and spunky.OT love your sig ;) me and my friends had a long discussion about that epilogue.. but I won't go into it.
