Lorien or Lórien?
Following on from my is-it-usable post about Lórien the other day . . . I know a few people mentioned this issue of their own accord, but I'd like everyone's opinions :-)
Do you think Lórien is better with or without the accented 'o'?Pros of the accent: it's correct, and therefore more legitimate
Cons of the accent: it's harder to type and may be misleading as to pronunciation in EnglishWDYT? Lorien or Lórien?

Lorien is much better. My middle name is Renee, without an accent. I used to wish it had, because it looked more exotic. I started to add the accent anyways. It got old really fast. It makes typing your name such a pain. Go with Lorien.

I prefer it without the accent. Accents always strike me as a bit pretentious and are hard to type. Given that it's an invented name, I wouldn't worry about how legitimate it appears.

me tooIt is what Tolkien made it. "Know yourself, be yourself," is my motto. If you love a Tolkien name, use it as a Tolkien name. He created some very beautiful ones (which are, helpfully, becoming more commonly known and recognized since the films). If you like it, embrace it for what it is, be proud of it, accent and all.

And also, having an accent doesn't make it much more difficult, nor is it pretentious IMO. Go with your gut instinct though, it is lovely with or without it.

I'd go without. It is the correct way, but I think it would cause pronunciation problems and it also looks kind of pretentious to me

I think on a male it is better with the accented O but on a female it is better without the accent. I don't really have an explanation as to why, I just think so.

Hmm... I would say without the accent. I mean, the accent looks right to me, but to people who are neither Tolkein fanatics nor name nerds, the accent is just going to be confusing.

I think that it looks better with the accented o.
