Kate/Cate/Cait
I've always loved the nn Kate/Cate/Cait - but I don't think it really stands up to be a full name by itself. What full name do you think it would best be a nn for?

I like Kate as a NN for Kathryn / Katheryn / Katherine (these are my favorite spellings of the name).I also love the name Caitlyn, but am not too fond of the nickname spelled with a C.

I think Kate works by itself, but the others look cut off to me.http://www.behindthename.com/php/related.php?name=katherine

I like Cate on its own or as a nn for Catherine or Catherina. I like Katherine nn Kate as I find Kate too plain. Caitria would be a stunning first name for Cait, imo.

I do like Kate (w/ a 'k' only) as a name by itself.for full names though I like Kathryn for Kate, Catherine for Cate, and Caitriona for Cait.

I LOVE the spelling Cait, but dislike Caitlin...so I found the name Caitria as a good alternative. I have a story in the works about a character named Kait/Kaity...which I really don't like the K spelling persay, but it really fits the character so her full name will be Kaitria.

My name is Cait- short for Caitlin. I love it. I think it's short and sweet, but spunky.

My favourite for years was Caitlin nn Cait/Caity, until it became horribly popular and a million different misspellings became the norm :(. I still love the name though, I would just never use it.After that I would go with Caitria nn Cait or Catherine nn Cate :)

I think Cate works on it's own.Kate could be good nn to:
Katharine / Katharina
Katarina / Catarina / Katarine / Katerine / Katerina

I would so call my child Hecate if it weren't for the Macbeth/Goddess-of-witches connotations.
