I am fascinated by Lachlan's popularity in Oz...is there any reason for it that you know of? It just seems unusual for a name to be so ubiquitous over there when it's not even on the top 1000 in the States. Not saying that naming is the same in all English speaking countries of course, but usually if something is so popular in one place it at least registers in others.

Is there a celebrity or tv show character or anything?
