I love it in theory, but in practice I think it would cause the poor thing no end of trouble. Maybe as a middle name?

It's one of my top 10, though I tend to like it more as a middle name.

I really like it.

I love it, but I am not so fond of the English pronunciation. The Greek pronounciation sounds much better to my ears.

I think Xanthe is a lovely name. It has a pretty pronouciation(s), its unique but not over the top. Also, I have a special place in my heart for classical Greek names. I don't know that I'd personally use Xanthe, the X kinda bothers me, but I like the name anyway.

I love Xanthe. It's among my favorite female names...beautiful and uncommon.

I dislike in. It seems like the name people like because it's "different" and it isn't Madison or Chloe or whatever is popular. I feel that about most Greek/Mythology names and Celtic names, so I'm a bit biased. The X-beginning definitely make it rather weird, IMO.

It really isn't my style, but I think it's a nice name.

I like Xanthe, I have a bit of a penchant for all *anthe greek names, it's a lovely sound imo.
Unfortunately I could never use it because here at least the only girls I've ever seen it on were very middle class, and I don't like those connotations.

I think Xanthe appears on quite a few namelists here. I don't think I'd use it, but it is quite nice.

I was just thinking to post about this name as well! I love it.My daughter's father however says it reminds him of xanthum gum. Anyone else? I would strongly consider using it if it weren't for that - it doesn't remind me of xanthum gum.
