Caitlin vs. Kaitlyn
Which spelling do you prefer? I sort of like Caitlin, since it is the original spelling of the name but my DH likes Kaitlyn. Although if we wanted to call her Katie, spelling it "Caitie" looks ridiculous. WDYT?

Of the two, I prefer Caitlin with the nn Cait.I actually prefer the spelling Katelyn though. It could have the nn Kate or Katie.

I have a Caitlin "Caity" in the class that I teach, and I think it looks just fine. However, I much prefer Katelyn "Katie". Far less ridiculous than Kaitlyn, and also an original spelling as it's Kate + Lyn.

Of the two, I prefer Caitlin, though my personal favorite is Caitlyn (which could be a compromise, since it has both the 'c' and the 'lyn').I think the Caitie spelling looks awkward with Kaitlyn, and in general, with the nickname, I prefer the 'k' (Kate is even nicer imo).

Well, my name is Kaitlin. I prefer this over the 'y' spelling, but unfortunately it's almost always misspelled. Caitlin looks the best, in my opinion, although I agree with you on the 'Catie' spelling.Whatever you choose will be better than Katlinn or Katelyne, both spellings I've seen before!

Caitlin. Caitlin Caitlin Caitlin. It still bugs me because it shouldn't be pronounced "Kate-lynn", but it's loads better than Kaitlyn. You could still use the nn 'Katie', much like Thomases usually go by Tom, not Thom. I don't think it's a problem.

I prefer the spelling Caitlin, and I don't think Caitie looks ridiculous. You could also spell it Catie, or Caty which I think looks fine too.

To me, Caitlin is the only acceptable way to spell this name. Everything else looks trendy and made up. I have seen Caity as a nn before and I don't think it's ridiculous. Not anywhere near as ridiculous as Kaitlyn anyway!S xx

Katherine/Katarina/Kataline/Katalina nn Kate/Katie?Katherine / Katarina / Kataline / Katalina nn Kate?
I think Katherine nn Kate is lovely and would age well. Kate is more of a grown-up nn she could use when she's older.I prefer Caitlin to Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn looks trendy and contrived in itself. It also looks a little childish I think.

Caitlin is a nice spelling. I think Catie doesn't look right, but Katie is nice. I prefer the nn Cait or Cate though.

I like Caitlin, but Kaitlyn doesn't look as nice to me. Plus that's a more common way to spell it, in case that matters to you. You could still spell Katie that way though, although I personally think it would be fine to spell it Caity or Caitie (although she'd have to spell it to people...). What about just Cait or Cate? I have a particular fondness for Cait which may or may not be related to a video game. :)

Caitlin (I prefer this) or Katelyn, if you MUST have the nn Katie.

I much prefer Caitlin. Mostly because Kaitlyn will get shortened to Katie / Katy, which I really dislike (I prefer Cait or Kate).

I actually grew up with more girls named Kaitlyn... I only know one Caitlin. Kaitlyn's more popular, if that's a turn off for you. Honestly, I wouldn't care either way.I only knew one Kaitlyn who went by a nickname too. She spelled it Katie, but there were so many Katies she started spelling it Kaity.
