Maxima or Maxine?
I really like the NN Max for a girl, and I think Maxine is cute but a little dated, so what do you think about Maxima? Or even Maximilana, which is pretty, but impossible to say in one breath? Or do you hate the NN Max for a girl?

MaxineIt's very 30's chic and spunky. I like it a lot.

I wouldn't say I *hate* the name Max for a girl, but I can't see myself incorporating it into my own list as it does not balance my other names. I find Maxine a bit nasal and garish, Maxima a bit awkward due to the gluteus maximus association. Maximiliana is slightly comical to me, but I suppose I could grow to appreciate it in the middle name spot only as long as it is honoring, such as Sophia Maximiliana to honor a Maximilian. I readily approve of Maximilian for a boy.

MaxineMaybe because I'm a Latin student but Maxima sounds ridiculous to me. Maximiliana is too weighty, I'd prefer something like Maximilia but even then that's a bit of a mouthful. It's kind of pretty though. I really like the nickname Max on a girl but only as a nickname.

I like Maxima much more than Maxine. It's very pretty. Max, but more so Maxie, is a cute nn for a girl.

Maxima! It's one of my all-time favourite names! The only reason I wouldn't use it in the first-name spot is because I hate Max. Maxine sounds really ugly to me, so I'd definitely take Maxima. I dislike Maximiliana too.

I think Maxine is still the best way to go. Maxima sounds ridiculous, IMO; so does Maximilana. Too much name.
