Maybe as a nn for Ivan but if not only if you really hate your son.

I don't care for it for a boy. It sounds feminine to me. Ivor would have been better for a boy.

Love Ivor. :-)

Eh, it's not something I would use myself, but it's androgynous. I tend to think that about most nature names.

I like them both.
I like a load of effeminate boy names and while I like this one I doubt I would use it.
I've liked Breslin for years.

I've come across Ivy on a guy, too, only it was short for something, I can't remember what. I don't like it. It's too girlish for me.

for Ivan maybe? If the name's only 2 syls, there's no need for a 2 syl nn though.

Hate it! For a girl it's very cute, but for a boy it just doesn't work imo.

Wouldn't that qualify as cruel and unnusual punishment?
That's almost like putting a sign on his forehead for the other boys that says "PLEASE... beat me up!"... Now I don't believe in beating people up for any reason, but realize not everyone shares my viewpoint and badly chosen names are 1 of the dumb reasons some people are inclined to choose.

I don't like it. I have a bad association with it on a guy. LOVE it for girls, though.

Why not?I don't really like Ivy on a girl, but I think it's betetr on a boy. Its like Ashkey for me, better on a boy but more common on a girl. And if you can name your daughter Michael or Dylan, then you name your son Ivy.

I don't like Michael or Dylan on a girl either... so that doesn't really justify Ivy on a boy... not that I'm really fond of it as a name on a girl either... Though it's tolerable.

No, but I can't really understand why it would be so awful on a boy. It sounds pretty much like Ivy and just by listening to the sound, it could be a boys name too.

sounds too frilly to me... Then again, I think some of the tree names like Linden sound kinda girly and frilly too.

I think I would like Ivy as a nickname for Ivor.

Meh. I think there are so many other male Iv- and Yv- names that I'd rather see one of them: Ivar, Ivan, Yves, Yvo, whatever else. But I could see it maybe growing on me. I'm lukewarm on Ivy as a name in general, which might account for my lack of enthusiasm for it in this case.I definitely don't like seeing anything alongside Breslin. Yecch.

Dear God, no!

It could work. At first, I would probably think it was a bit odd to meet a boy named Ivy but it's not a name that strikes me as very feminine.

Ives or Ivo, not Ivy.
