Ainsley
I am really starting to like Ainsley (for a girl). Is it too trendy sounding? WDYT?

Why on earth use it for a girl? All the celeb associations that I know about are male, if you care, and anyway it's a surname. I suppose you could say Trendy, but I just think of it as flimsy and unlikely to last.

I've always loved it.

Yes, it's trendy, but I really like it anyway. It's very pretty. I think it is going to become very popular, though. It has risen so quickly over the last couple of years.

It's somewhat trendy sounding, but-- I must admit-- I really like it. It's kind of a GP for me. Not really the type of name I usually go for, but I like it nevertheless. I'd pair it with something very feminine since it's rather androgynous.

It's very nasally, so I dislike it on both genders. If you like that long A sound, there's Ailsa.

I don't think being trendy is its biggest problem; a name can be trendy but still a nice name, I think. For me the -sley is just too sleazy and slippery to sound good. It's very soap opera-y but not in a delightfully tacky sort of way; more in a plastic surgery and Botox sense. Like if the actress Lisa Rinna was a visual personification of a name. o_OTo be fair, it's all -sley that I don't like, not just this. Like whichever celebrity in the last year or so had a baby girl Blakesley, a popular surname from my hometown is Tankersley, etc. They all bother me for that sound. It's a very specific thing I don't like. If you're open to alternatives I might suggest:Anne / Anna / Annie
Aina
Amelie
Anisa
Amity
Alisa
Angelee
Leslie
Marley
Rosalie
Silvie
Aurelie

I've known two female Ainsleys and one male Ainsley. I just find it so so ugly. the AYN and the ZLEE...nasally and whiney sounding. I find that is a bigger issue than the trendiness/surnamey-ness.Yeah too trendy.

Ainsley is one of my least favorite names. I think the sound of it is extremely unpleasant!

I'm not a fan. I think it's trendy sounding but it also doesn't have an appealing sound. It reminds me of anal, sorry.
