Genevieve or Christine
Finally, someone who gets Genevieve IRL. First heard it from my DDs name. She's loving the name but also loving the simplicity of Christine. I like both too... So what would you choose?

I like them both, but prefer Genevieve.

Genevieve is preferable for meDidn't see this posted on the board; my apologies if it's well-covered territory...NASCAR champ, Jimmie Johnson and his wife, Chandra, had a daughter last July and named her Genevieve Marie.

Christine is still too dated for me. I don't think it's really come back around yet. Wait another ten or so years for that one.Genevieve is classic and terribly underused. I would definitely go with Genevieve. It's lovely.

Depend's what they're paired w/ and as fn or mn... As a fn, I think I'd prefer Genevieve so she doesn't get stuck w/ Chrissy or Christy.

for what?A first name or middle name? With Chloe? I like Chloe Genevieve / Genevieve Chloe more than Chloe Christine / Christine Chloe. Genevieve is a touch more interesting.

Well, we're already there with our Chloe Genevieve. :) (Although we almost had a Chloe Christine... many names were tossed around.)It's someone else I know who's pregnant. She's just thinking names in general and those are two she told me she likes atm.

ohh I see now!Well, I do still say Genevieve over Christine. Christine seems a little tired and needs some resting time. though I do enjoy the ties to Phantom of the Opera and killer cars :)

Yes! Me too. Christine was a family name but I was a little unsure about Chloe Christine.I like the spunk of Genevieve and then there are cute nicknames available. :)

I prefer Christine, butonly if it can be managed without a nickname. I dislike Christy and Chrissy, and find Chris to be so handsome as a male name that I don't care for it as a female one. Genevieve is... meh. Pretty, but nothing special. It's one of those names that I can appreciate but have never been excited about.

Honestly? I'd go with Christine.Genevieve is lovely, but I hear it so much on the board, I'm a little burnt out on it. It's almost held up on a pedestal as THE perfect name, right along with Eleanor. Christine is a little sassier; it has more personality. And I've always had a fondness for the NN Christy.

I see what you mean. In real life I don't hear Genevieve much at all, but I do hear Christine and variants. On the boards Genevieve does come up a lot more though... But both are pretty timeless I think.

Genevieve Christine?I think that would work as a combo...Personally, no matter if I like the sound, I wouldn't use any Christina/Christine names, due to the fact that they start with "Christ." Not because I'm not religious--I actually am. And that's exactly why I wouldn't use the names. I would feel really weird. But that's just me. A lot of other people may use those names for precisely that reason. And more would use it because they like the sound.I do like Genevieve, though.

I've been thinking about Genevieve and Christine lately too. To me, Genevieve is a gorgeous name in the first or middle name spot, capable of stading on its own, while Christine is a beautiful filler first name that works well with unusual middle names. What I would choose would depend on what I wanted.
