Katherine
DH and I keep throwing around the idea of calling our baby Katherine (If the baby's a girl) and mainly calling her Kitty.
I go by Kate or Katie, but still would this be weird. Also, what do you think about Katherine 'Kitty' and the combo Katherine ElspethTY

A big thumbs up from me for Kitty and Katherine Elspeth. I like the way her name is similar to yours (Kathryn) yet you each have a different nn.

I don't think it would be weird. I agree with Hola123, though, that you might as well spell your daughter's name the same as yours.I think Kitty is fresh and spunky.I'm not a fan of Elspeth, though. Too clunky for my taste.

No weirder than naming a son after his father. I like Katherine Elspeth and I think Kitty is adorable.

I love it! Kitty is such a cute nn.

not weird!in fact I think it would be delightfully refreshing to see a little girl "junior" instead of the usual boy!Katherine Elspeth is lovely and Kitty is my favourite short form for Katherine. It's so brazen and bold.

I don't think that you and your daughter having the same name is weird at all- it happens quite often. Although, if you decided to do this, I think it would be better to call her Kathryn (if that's how you spell your name). Having the same name, spelled differently does seem odd to me and it just doesn't look right. Especially since yours looks to me like a modern spelling and hers would be more classic...seems like it should have been the other way around (in my honest opinion). I think Kitty is adorable as a nn :) I'm not big on Elspeth but the combo does flow nicely.

Katherine "Kitty" is cute. It's sort of old-fashioned but not at the same time. I sort of like Katherine Elspeth, although I think Elspeth would go better with Catherine and Katherine should have something more "sharp".

I knew a girl named Katrina with a mom whose name was also Katrina. Her mom went by Trina and she went by Katrina. I also know another mother and daughter named Jill and Jillian. Both cases are a bit too confusing for my liking.I personally wouldn't give a daughter my name, but if you go by Kate or Katie and your daughter goes by Kitty, it might work. It would be less confusing than Katrina and Katrina "Trina" or Jill and Jillian. Katie and Kitty are pretty close though.I like Elspeth, and I think it works well with Katherine.

I like the NN Kit, but not Kitty. Kit is fresh, Kitty is dowdy.
