I must be the odd one out here, but I have bad associations with this name. I was mercilessly picked on at school by a girl named Vanessa, and as the years went by she turned out.... well, much less than savory, let's just put it at that.

Association aside though, I think I would not use a nickname with it, well... maybe Nessa.
