Cicely
I admit, I once thought this to be a misspelling of Cecily, but upon learning that it is actually the name of a beautiful, understated flower, I began to prefer Cicely to Cecily. Which do you prefer? Cecily or Cicely?

Cecily is beautiful. I'm not too keen on Cicely, though. It sounds too whiny and flimsy to me because of its similarity to the word "sissy."

CecilyI like the Improtance of Being Earnest association. And Cicely sounds like Sicilly, but isn't, so that bothers me a little.

Sorry, but I think Cecily is miles better. Cicely reminds me too much of Sicily, and while my ancestors may have come from the island, I wouldn't want to name a kid after it, exactly. :-)

Actually...I love both of them!

me tooMe too. In combo making, it would only depend on the sounds of the other names I was considering on which I would choose and IRL I would probably use Cicely because I dislike the meaning of Cecily.

I'm too fond of Cecily to switch allegiances now. I love feminized names like Cecily. Plus there were medieval Cecilys which was a surprise when I first found out. It sounds much more modern. I picture a medieval Cecily with an i-pod. Too much fun.So Cicely is out for me, sorry. :-/ I didn't know it was a flower. It's good to know it's not just a misspelling of a classic. :-)

I love Cecily, but really dislike Cicely.Cecily looks and sounds so much nicer.

I actually prefer Cicely, which is somehow less prissy and flaccid than Cecily. Indeed, I've considered removing Cecily from my list on several occasions -- it just sounds so spineless and wilted and petulant.

I prefer Cecily. Cicely sounds too close to Sicily for my taste.

I really love both and can't pick between the two. I like the sound of Cicily, but the look of Cecily.

I like both of them! They both have charm, in different ways. I think I prefer the look of Cecily, but the sound of Cicely.

I prefer Cecily, but neither one is my favorite name. I've seen Cecilie before and I like it much better.
