I love the sound of
Sinjin. But the phonetic spelling puts me off. I much prefer St.
John.
[In my nerdier moments I imagine children's names for the couples in "Pride and Prejudice." I have
Charlotte Collins giving birth to
Winifred and St.
John.
Winifred pleased Lady
Catherine because it was appropriately saintly and non-aristocratic. But she did not approve of St.
John. I never worked out how
Charlotte got to use St.
John instead of
John, the safer choice. And yes, I have too much time on my hands sometimes.]
