I like Amelia. It's kind of popular, so we were thinking of using it as a middle name. Morgan Amelia was our combo. I know a little Amelia who goes by Milly. Adorable.

Lovely but much too popular these days...I prefer Aurelia, Cordelia, Camellia, and Ophelia.

Amelia is a lovely name, a very pretty classic.

It's pretty and has a rich history behind it, but it's becoming increasingly popular to the point that it doesn't excite me really. I would rather see something less expected like Aurelia or Cordelia.

I want to like it, because it's old, classic, has a nineteenth century flavor, is three syllables, and ends in A, and all of those are always pluses in my book. But I can't get past the unattractive MEAL sound in the middle. So I don't like it. I'd probably be hard pressed to find another name with all of those qualities that I don't like.

Funny, I never even gave much thought to the "meal" sound in the middle. I used to not like Minerva because I didn't like the "nerve" sound of the name, but now I sort of like it, but only on someone else's baby. Maybe you would like Amalia, which ls like Amelia without the "meal." Amalia just entered the top 1000 last year. My assumption was that Amalia has risen because people want something less popular than Amelia, but the names are so similar that I wouldn't pick Amalia for that reason.
