I used to love it - before I got confused on how to pronounce it. I started by saying MEE-uh, then changed it to MAY-uh (because of the Mai, which I pronounce MAY), now I'm being told that is wrong and it is MY-uh, which I really don't understand. All of this leaves me confused and deflated.

It's okay, I like this spelling. I just prefer Mia

I like it a lot but this spelling only. My stock Maia combo is Maia Cassandra. I just love the way it looks written.

It's nice. I usually enjoy the long "i" sounds in names. I like Maya too and go back and forth on which spelling I prefer. I say them the same way.

Maia is lovely. It's sound is beautiful and it brings to mind ancient Rome and goddesses. What's not to love? Maia Celeste and Ingrid Maia are my stock combos for it. (Ingrid Maia was my pseudonym on another site.)I love both Maia and Maya, which I pronounce the same way, "MIE-uh." The only draw back to both names is the pronunciation free-for-all here in the U.S. It drives me nuts. Toss in Mia (and who-knows-how-to-say Mya) and it all goes downhill quickly. So frustrating for a name nerd. :-P
