Re: Daisy, Ivy or Violet?
in reply to a message by Lily
At the moment I choose Ivy, but just barely, for all I know tomorrow I might prefer Violet. I like Ivy and Violet a lot, they sound like names for strong but sweet ladies. I can equally see Ivy and Violet as reserved book worms in turtle neck sweaters, as I can see them as sexy, spunky, outgoing wild women, or somewhere in between.Daisy never sounds strong to me only very sweet. I picture one wearing frilly dresses or shirts in pastels and floral dresses or shirts in bright colors, and if she's not a dress girl I picture her wearing jeans and either sandals or cowboy boots. I picture a Daisy being friendly but in a very timid soft spoken way. I always imagine the parents of a Daisy as neo-hippies or as country folk who like cowboy boots and country music. Where I'm living at the moment so many people wear cowboy boots, especially the women. I like cowboy boots but they are so expensive unless you get them at a thrift store. Sorry I got off track, just really been wanting some cowboy boots and Daisy reminded me of that. The neighbor whom I'm volunteering for who owns the horse farm has a dog named Daisy. Really I've only once met a human girl named Daisy, all the others I've met were peoples pets or the dolls of little girls. In fact I had a doll or stuffed animal named Daisy and I had one named Petunia. Really Daisy and Petunia strongly remind me of each other as overly sweet sounding flower names. There is a part of me who likes Daisy because I always picture the sweetest looking little girl with brown or golden ringlets, whom smiles and tears come easily to. I picture her weaving daisy chains to put in her hair with a big fluffy pet bunny whom she loves to cuddle and give kisses to. I have a harder time imaging an adult Daisy, but I can picture one. I see her being down to earth or a flirt but I always picture her either being a neo-hippie or a modern cowgirl. Either way I picture a woman who spends most of her time outdoors, who loves plants and animals and most likely works on a farm or maybe is a rural vet. She is probably a vegetarian or maybe even a vegan. Also I can imagine a Daisy who is both a neo-hippie and a modern cowgirl. I also see a Daisy being someone who prefers simiplicity and doing things the slower tried but true less complicated way. I always imagine Daisy's to have a personality like a Taurus or Libra or a Cancer. When I said earlier I don't see Daisy's as strong I meant I don't see them as being daring or leaders. They seem more timid and likely to be followers, but I do see them as having an enduring type of strength and I see them having a good strength of character. They would be fine leading themselves but not other people, they prefer a support role than one of leadership. I also imagine them as being hard workers, who don't often complain. I imagine most Daisy's would end up in Hufflepuff if they attended Hogwarts.Marguerite is a name I like more than Daisy and it reminds me of daisies. My mothers garden is always full of daisies and alstroemeria in the summer, they take over her garden leaving little else in it for awhile. Also daisies are part of the Aster family, I've always felt Aster could be a good name for a girl since it sounds in between Astrid and Esther. Even though it's not quite my style I can see Aster working well as a name. But I love Ivy and Violet. I also like that Ivy isn't very common, also it is short but sweet. I like that Violet has the awesome nn Vi. Ivy and Vi both sound very hip / cool and current, but also sound very old school classic. Ivy makes me think of old university buildings covered in trailing ivy and English gardens. Violet and Ivy both sound like the name of a glamorous but demure 50's movie star. Violet makes me think of old fashioned sweet violet perfume and old school violet flavored candy. The only negative thing about Violet is that it reminds me of the word violent and Ivy sounds similar to a IV drip though slightly different emphasis when pronouncing them.Iris I also love and it also seems just as modern hip but old fashioned as Ivy and Violet. Just like those two I see only one thing slightly wrong with it, Iris makes me think of the iris of our eye. But truthfully Iris, Violet, and Ivy are so cool and pretty that it is easy to forgive their small short comings.
