I think it's really pretty. It is sooooo popular in Australia right now though, and so I'd predict a definite rise in the States, along with Hazel. Which sucks. I do love it. I have a 5-year-old cousin named Ruby. That's definitely the age of most Rubys, the under 5s crowd. Or, you know, grandmas. I do know a 14-year-old Ruby though, with sisters Lily (older) and Emily (younger).

Where I live, it's cheap and nasty. I'd expect it on the kind of person who goes shopping with curlers in her hair, no stockings and prickly, unshaven legs.

I like it. It's very sweet. :)

I love the name Ruby, even though it's super popular. It was my fave name for years, but I have a niece with the name, so couldn't use it even if I wanted to!

I've liked Ruby forEVER and I don't even care how trashy other people think it is anymore. I'd use Ruby in a red hot minute.

I like this but I think it's too popular.. for dogs. I know so many dogs called Ruby, I'm quite tired of it

It sounds...babyish to me. It fits two age groups - children under the age of 10, and elderly women over the age of 70. On everyone else, it sounds a bit silly.

Love Ruby. It's on my list and has long been a favourite of mine since I was a child.
I know a baby that was born to one of my college lecturers a few weeks ago. I think her middle name was Ann(e) but I'm not too sure.
It's rather popular here in England.

It seems a bit fluffy and insubstantial to me. I can't imagine a strong businesswoman called Ruby... but it's not awful.

I like Ruby. Sweet and simple. I'd love to meet sisters name Ruby, Naomi, and Elise. Different, but all so wonderfully understated.

It's cute, but not a name I'd use.

Ruby was a name that I, as a child, attached to myself whenever I was pretending to be another person or animal - along with the likes of Emerald, Holly, Star, Stella, Moon, Luna, Rose, Willow, Autumn, Clover... etc. And I believe that it should remain in such a youthful, droll sense; Ruby is not a name that I picture on a grown, professional woman (though, many years ago, I did know a lady by it), nor is it a name that I find visually appealing or by sound.
When one removes the lovely, cochineal gemstone image they immediately associate and affix to the name in their mind, Ruby really is a strange, fairly unattractive word.

I think it's darling. It's not top of my list, but it's been on my long list for years. Sweet and classic.

It's cute, but more cute in the "puppy bouncing around chasing her tail" or "little girl with a floppy hat with ears attached" kind of way. I don't think it ages all that great.
