Catherine or Katherine?
I personally prefer Katherine, but I do come across Catherine far more often :)

I prefer the Katherine spelling.

I do insist on a K! And I also prefer Katharine to Katherine, which strikes me as an uncomfortable French-Greek hybrid. But I'd rather have Catherine than Kathryn.Nicknames are probably inevitable - I do know one Catherine who accepts nothing less, but she's a very unusual person all round. Kathy is dated and Kate has been too popular for too long, so fortunately there's Kitty to cheer me up. And, indeed, I once had a Catherine cat who was known as Katie the Kitty and sometimes as Kitty; I used the C spelling for her because it contains the word 'cat' and can also be pronounced without the 'th' blend, as it is in French. Cat-er-een.

Katherine. The K spelling just appeals to my eyes far more, but not really sure why that is.

I prefer Katherine. For me its all about the spelling with a K. The C looks plain and boring.

Catherine for me + question for everyoneI prefer it with a C, although I still like it very much with a K. My favorite nicknames for Catherine/Katherine make more sense if you spell it with a K, though (Kay, Kit, Kitty). I'm debating with myself whether I prefer it with nicknames or without. So I guess that is a question for everyone! Do you prefer Catherine/Katherine on its own or with a nickname? If the latter, which nickname do you like best?

I like Katherine on its own, but it's on the longer side, so nn's are a given. My favorites are Kat and Kit (thanks to Billina and her reference to a book).

I prefer Katherine. I just do.

I definitely prefer Catherine to Katherine, which is so bland and lifeless to me.

For a mn, I definitely prefer Catherine. For a fn, it all depends on certain variables (surname, intended nn).

I prefer Katherine. I tend to like K's over C's every time. Catherine looks weak and simpering. Katherine looks like she's capable of handling things on her own.

I prefer Catherine because the "C" seems less harsh to me than the "K." But I think it's a good name and like it either way.
