Yes, she is :) I have a very deep soft spot for Betsy, actually. After my daughter was born, for the first few months, I couldn't shake the feeling that she seemed like a Betsy. The name was not even on my radar before she was born, but after...she seemed sooooo Betsy. I did not change her name, though I did call her Betsy sometimes ;) Couldn't help myself. For the record, that faded after a few months and her actual name is definitely her true name, fits her perfectly.

It's very cute, and tempting to use to honour a beloved relative who morphed from Betsey to Betsy to Bessie. She had a sister called Ann Elizabeth and another called Eliza Mary - so her parents clearly didn't mind repetition! I would think twice about using Betsy as the registration name, though, because I'm a stickler for full names, not nns.

Betsy is one of my favorite nns for Elizabeth.

I agree. I love the retro feeling of it. I met a Betsy in her 20s and it worked surprisingly well.

I think so, too. But only as a nickname.

Totally! Freshly ironed gingham, swing hanging from a tree branch in warm spring sunshine, distant smell of chocolate cake and grilled lamb chops!I knew a grim and uptight Betsy at school, and not even that spoilt it for me.

I agree, Betsy would be a breath of fresh air on a baby these days.

I prefer Betty as a nn for Elizabeth. Anyway, I don't think any old/dated name is fresh by definition.

I prefer it as a nickname for Elisabeth

It's kind of cute, actually. Very lively and fun-loving in an old-fashioned way.

I know a baby Betsy. She's from a family where all the kids have B names. It's not my style, but agree it's a breath of fresh air.

Hmmm...it's a bit too babyish for my taste. I prefer Betty.
