Thoughts on the name.....
Marley, for a boy? It's one "trendy, unisex" name that I actually don't mind. What does everyone else think?

Marley's ghost, war in Mali, and Bob:
Also, it sounds a bit like Molly.

Marley is alright for a boy, makes me think of Bob Marley, which is a good thing. I'd hate it on a girl though.
I actually don't mind Marley. I feel a bit disappointed in myself that I like it! lol
It is very trendy here in Australia and there is alot of boys and girls with the name (Marley/Marlee/Marli/Marlea/Marlie etc.)
Though Jasper and Marley do sound quite nice together.
What about Marlow ? or even Marlon ?

I know what you mean, I'm kind of annoyed that I like it too! Marlow and Marlon are not for me and DH doesn't like Marley anyway, just wondering what everyone thought.
It's okay. NMS - a little too puppyish for me, along the lines of Bailey and Milo and Cody. Not quite butch enough for my taste on a grown man. But not bad.
I don't like Marley at all. Neither for a boy nor for a girl.
But if I had to label the name relating to a gender, I'd definately say it's a girl's name...

I think Marley totally works for a boy. I don't like it at all for a girl, but for a boy it is kind of refreshing and cool and hip. Its not my style, I wouldn't use it, but I don't dislike it.
I think Marley is lovely, I prefer it on a girl but it works okay on a boy too.
I like Marley. I prefer it for a girl, but I like it for a boy as well.
Wow, another surname that I find more feminine than masculine and would rather see on a girl than a boy, if I have to see it at all. I used to say that surnames are inherently masculine, but now after recently realizing that Riley is not, and now that you've brought Marley to my attention, I have to change my mind about that.
I don't like Marley for a boy. I think a boy should have a strong masculine name. What is strong and what is masculine is, of course, a matter of opinion. My opinion is that Marley is neither, so I would not like it on a boy.

Marley was dead ...
... as dead as a doornail.
Or else I think of a big, goofy dog.

All I can think of is the ghost of Scrooge's late partner who appears to him, weighed down with chains, and warns him to repent and improve before it's too late. Scrooge and Marley. Could work for cats, but probably not dogs.
