So what's the general consensus
On Galilee's gender?
I'm really liking it for a boy, but I'm worried the "lee" ending makes it seem like a girl's name. Thoughts?
If you initially thought "girl" could you easily accept it as a boy's name once you found out?
(And even if you hate the name, I'd still like to know your initial impression of "boy or girl?".)

My initial thought was boy, because of Galileo Galilei, and I feel that's the first reaction/association most people would have. I struggle to see it as even remotely feminine.
I initially thought boy because of Galileo Galilei, but I don't like it for either gender.

I imagine it on a girl. It's similar to Jubilee which I always see on girls. The "lee" ending does make it seem feminine, but the "Gal" beginning does too ;)
I could get used to it on a boy.

Girl, cause of "Gal" and the "lee" ending.
I feel like it could go either way, honestly.
It could be either!!
The "lee" ending doesn't make it sound like a girl's name to me cos Lee is a boy's name. If I saw/heard Galilee I'd totally be like, "Boy or girl??"
I think I like the name :) I think it's kind of too unusual for me to use, but it's cool!

My immediate thought was "boy." It seems quite masculine to me.
I've only ever heard Galilee from you, so I've only ever thought of it on a boy. I think that would be my initial guess regardless. Or maybe it would be one of those where I am entirely unsure of gender. But I could certainly accept it for a boy.
Do you like Galilee for the sound? For Biblical significance? Or is it honouring to Gilliland (is that the right surname I am thinking of)?

My first instinct would be to say that it was feminine. However, I don't really consider it a name so it could go either way.
If you're looking for support for the masculine side, I am pretty sure Galil (the island) is a masculine word in Hebrew.

Girl. GaliLEO is a boy.
Girl. It sounds a lot like "gal + lily" to me.
Would I accept it on a boy? If I met a male Galilee, I'd have no choice but to accept it, but I would still think it sounds feminine.

I'm 100% on the fence about this name. The appearance of it seems feminine because of the Lee ending and the Lil in the middle. But saying it out loud sounds too masculine for a female.
I would prefer to see it on a boy.

Well, Lee is a boy's name. I went to high school with one. I think I'd be so surprised in real life if I met a Galilee that I have no idea if it's a boy or a girl. I know of a Raylee from church who's a boy, and two years younger than Rayleigh (girl), and he'll probably have that problem, since they probably are at the same elementary school. I could accept it as a boy's name.
Eh. I couldn't tell actually. I think it's unisex.
I think Galilee is a unisex name. It could work on boys or girls.
Never heard of the name so unsure. Though it does remind me of Gally which is a males nam
I'm having a difficult time seeing Galilee as a male name. It's not just the "lee" that makes it sound feminine. "Gal" (girl) and "lilee" (lily) are also contributing.
Not sure... I'd say male, that's my first thought.
Seems more masculine to me.
Thanks everyone. I think Galilee is probably my top.boy name now. Now that I'm convinced it's not too feminine.
My first reaction is that it sounds like a female name, but honestly it is unisex. It can definitely work for either sex imo.
