I like it too.
I like it. It gives me a very bookish, cozy feeling. And a slight, tiny little edge due to the Amelia Earhart association.

I've loved Amelia for quite a while now. It's one of my favorite names. I plan on using it.
It's a classic and it's simple. But it's also common which is why, even though I like it, I lean toward Amalia more. =)
I love Ameila and I always have. I didn't realize how many people disliked it, I always thought it was a pretty name.
I like it. Attractive, spellable, intelligent and cheerful-sounding. I know one adult Amelia and two young ones, all very different, and it suits all three of them. And despite the popularity, I don't seem to hear it very often.
I think it's a very versatile name and I like the nickname Mia.
Meh. I don't like the 'melia' ending.

It's one of my least favourite names. I can't stand the 'mealy' sound, and it's *everywhere* here, it's been #1 for girls in the UK for a few years now.
This has always seemed a whiny, nasal, prissy name to me.
Oh, how I want to like Amelia. In so many ways, it fits the type of name I like. It's old, classic, it's redolent of the nineteenth century, it's long, and it ends in "ia". Perfect in every way, except that I just can't stand that "meel" sound in the middle of it. That chases out the image of a girl from a Dickens novel and brings in the image of a bowl of oatmeal. Sorry, Amelia.
It's lovely. Charming, classic, easy to spell and pronounce, suitable for all ages.
My only concern is that it feels so darn common. I'm not even in the US, but I still get the feeling that Amelia is the new Emily/Isabella..

I'm not sure how popular it is here and I'm too lazy to look it up, but I've only met like, two adult Amelias my whole life.

It has skyrocketed.

You are not alone! But I can't join you. It lacks pizazz IMO, and its length makes it flabby. (Emily, by contrast, is full of positive energy - I know they're not the same name, but the look and sound are close enough to compare.)
I also find that heavy emphasis on 'MEEE' distasteful. Like MEEEgan, but MEGan is fine.

It's my niece's name, so on one level I am a bit biased, but I'm not totally head over heels for it. I dislike the fact that Millie is a nickname because I just don't get it, but Mia is kind of cute. I also think it has a whiny sound I hate to say. However, it is my favourite of the Amelia / Emilia clan.
