One of my friends just posted a happy birthday message on Facebook for her one-year-old goddaughter named Desdemona. A real live Desdemona! I'm willing to bet money that she was named for the character on the Gargoyles cartoon and not the Shakespearean character. Her parents seem like pop culture nerds more than literature nerds.
