I've worked out why Channing makes me think of horror things. It was driving me insane trying to work out the cause of my irrationality, but, eh, turns out that there's a villain in the Hellraiser franchise called Dr Channard. Ha. I think that passing similarity is what makes me have that reaction.
And yeah, I kind of like the vibe Henning gives me. It would make for a great character name too, of course, of a character of the macho mountain man variety. :)
