I adore it too. My new favourite name!
I'm thinking it probably is best on a boy with it actually being a boy's name. And Sunny IS pretty girly... maybe it doesn't even need a nickname at all. Some three syllable names don't :)

I'll suggest it to my brother if he has another boy. He's already got Merlin and Moss! He totally has enough guts for a Somerled ;)
