Because of how Sommer sounds like Summer? If I'd seen it out of context I think I would've thought "boy" first cos I know Sommers as a last name, and then I would've gone "wait, is it for girls?" because of it sounding like "Summer".
I've gone off Sunny as a nickname already. I really dislike Sonny and I always forget they're said the same!
As far as I know it's sum-uh-led with stress on the first syllable.
I don't think I'd like so-merl-d nearly as much...
