Name help for a girl
I need help with a name. I have two ideas but each have a possible problem and I need opinions on the name and possible ideas.
I should begin by explaining that I'm writing a story about a girl who's mother gets killed while she is pregnant with the baby and she has to be born early. She's in the hospital for a while since she was born like a pound (I'm still figuring it out) and she then is raised by her grandpa, because her dad isn't in the picture.
Now with that background, the first idea is naming her Mackenzie Alicia. Alicia would be after her mother and Mackenzie would be after her grandma but I don't know if that would be weird having the grandpa name his granddaughter after his dead wife. (Note: it doesn't have to be after the grandmother, just an idea but the mother's name can't be a first name).
My other idea is name her something that means "miracle", "survivor", "hope". I know babies aren't named by traits or anything, but in this case the mother didn't have any idea what she was naming the child when she was killed. So the grandpa could name her something or the nurses who cared for her could. But if I do that, I don't know if that'll be considered to be Mary Sueish.
Advice on which route to go, if second way, name ideas!
Thanks in advances.
