I far prefer Alfred to Ignatius, which is mostly pronounced iCH-NAHS-ee-us where I live and shortens to Naas. Alfred, with his guerrilla tactics and cooking disasters, is a really interesting namesake too.
I think the nn problem will solve itself. My nephew started out as Zander and has now become Alex, and nobody turned a hair.
Alfred and Winifred cancel each other out. Alfred and Winona could work, though. Or Alfred and Daphne; Wilfred and Theodora; and, I suppose, Ignatius and Winifred, though it doesn't please me.
