Israel isn't bad. I've heard much worse. I associate Israel as a Jewish surname, so to me it is just like someone non-Scottish naming their daughter MacKenzie. Though I do know this is probably just me being odd.
Edited to say: I didn't know there was a Biblical Israel until I clicked on the name in our database. Shows what I know. ;)
