No, it doesn't fit a girl. Anselma works better, but I can't say I like that either.

I suppose as it's not a common name it could be got away with. I think you would need a good reason to use Ansel on a girl though. For instance honouring someone.Ansel Clarissa

Ansel is listed as a boy's name on this site, so I don't think it would be a good idea to give a girl a masculine name like Ansel. That's the same as naming a boy Margaret. Anselma and Elma are feminine forms for Ansel; consider those.
