WDYTO Dashiell?
My husband likes this with the nickname Dash. (I think he's a little obsessed with The Incredibles... but it could grow on me!) Interested what others think.

I used to think it was too made-up sounding. But now I think it looks kinda cool.

There was a character named Dash (nn for Dashiell, like Hammett) on a now-defunct soap opera YEARS ago, and I fell in love with it back in my early teens. Now it seems to be catching on, after "The Incredibles" (also Cate Blanchett has a son named Dashiell John, I believe). I still think it's a great name, and Dash is a great nn. Though many people might stumble over the spelling of Dashiell and the pronunciation at first. But I definitely think Dashiell should be the formal name and Dash the nn.

I see a growing trend! It's picking up on this board, which is often either a forerunner to big naming trends or moves right along with them. It'll be popular soon, I'll bet.

Reminds me of Dashiell Hammett. Very film noir-esque!I think it could work on the right person.

Hammett and the IncrediblesI also like Dashiell and Dash, but I had the mn Dashing on my list. Yes, like "He's such a dashing figure." That Dashing. He could still be nn Dash.

I like it. I actually had the same thought when I watched the Incredibles :o) It's a name that could grow with a kid, with a nn like Dash. And Dashiell seems like a very respectable-sounding adult name, IMHO._________________________________________________
