On a girl. I think it's a common girls' name in Ethiopia.

I like the idea of the flower as a name (for a girl).
But, the ass sound, and (esp. on a boy) the way it seems like Astor misspelled (and Astor is pretentious) - these things bother me too much to think it is a good name.
Also I think the flower is far too delicate an image to be a man's name.
And it makes punny phrases too easily.

Hmm, no. I can't get past the "ass" sound.

I used to hate, it's ok for a girl I guess.

It would work best for a boy. I think it could easily catch on and become quite popular.

Prefer Asher, and for a boy! Aster is better as Esther for a girl, the spelling Asther would be better in this case, though prefer Esther!

I think I like Aster better for a boy and Asteria for a girl.

It works better on a girl. It makes me think of Margaret Astor (I think that's a make-up brand) and of Ester or Esther. It's okay. Esther is better. Aster starts with As so I am wondering what nickname people will come up with. Assie isn't really great. It's one of those names that doesn't really have any usable nicknames.
