I don't like the name Violet. I don't think it's nice sounding at all.

I've never been a huge fan of Violet. It seems one of the more formal flower names & that's just nms.

It's not terrible, but frilly and old-ladyish (not in a good way) to me.

Shrinking Violet? Not really a cheerful, up-tempo life sentence. Like taking Cheyenne, which is bad enough, and tweaking it to Shy-Anne.OTOH, my grandmother's generation was the last before now to feature largeish numbers of Violet people, and she always claimed that women named Violet were highly likely to be large, loud and flat-footed, with creaking corsets!

I like this name a lot. If I had two twin daughters, I'd name them Violet & Valerie.

I really like Violet, it is one of my favourite flower names, it is a beautiful flower and while it is a bit old fashioned I still think it works really well, I have never thought of violence when looking at Violet. I also like Violetta I think that is a beautiful name. Please Vote PNL: http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/151224

I adore Violet. Don't care that it looks close to violent. It would honor a family member for me. And I love the color!

I love Violet! It's in my top 3 names for girls right now, despite its growing popularity. I think it's very pretty and it's one of the few flower names I like.

I love it, but that's because it's the name of the first character I ever created.

I like Violet quite a bit, though many others perceive it as very old-fashioned. I tend to like flower names in general - though I used to dislike Violet because it was one letter off from "violent."Come to think of it, I might actually prefer Viola. But Violet is still nice.

I like Violet in the English-speaking world, but for us (other) Europeans Violetta or Viola sounds much more accustomed and familiar.
