Tanaquil
Pronunciation: https://forvo.com/word/tanaquil_le_clercq/Do you like it, or does it sound/look like an OTC medication to you? (I imagine that would be especially possible for Americans.)My father wanted to name me Tanaquil, after Tanaquil LeClercq. His mother founded a ballet company, and had met Tanaquil. He always thought her story was tragic and inspiring. Mom said absolutely not, too strange. ;)I'd love to use it, but my FI is pretty conservative when it comes to names. Maybe a middle name, as a tribute to my father/grandmother.For me, it passes the "Would you name yourself this?" test -- I'd love to be called Tanaquil. That said, who knows how I'd feel if I'd grown up with it. Growing up, I felt Fiona was weird enough.WDYT?

I love Tanaquil and I love the story of Tanaquil LeClercq. I don't think of medication when I hear it. It's an old Roman name and super cool!

yes, it does sound like an OTC medicine ..A cough syrup, maybe. Not quite as strong as Nyquil, but you still can't drive or operate heavy machinery after taking it.

Yah, kind of close to Nyquil. Its certainly some sort of nighttime sleep drug. It also seems similar to pretentious Tarquin. That being said, I love the nickname Quill.

Wow she's enchanting.Tbh, I disliked the name before because of, you guessed it, the medicinal sound. But... after reading about Tanaquil Le Clerq I really really like it haha. Idk why that happens to me but it happens so often! I'm blah or even dislike a name and then I either read about someone interesting or meet someone interesting with that name and BOOM I love it.Also... I like it much more knowing the pronunciation. The history of the name is also very cool! And I think Tana is a very mysterious/cool nickname, it's like feminine and shadowy.

Oh yay, you looked her up! :) I'm the same way, a sucker for names of interesting people.Basically, I WANT to like names. Because I want to like people. So if I can find a reason to love a name, I'm happy.I love "feminine and shadowy" names.
