Wdtyo May/Mae as a first name?
Question in the subject obviously. Another question: Is it better of worse if the girl was born in May? If I'm pregnant this month I will be due the first week of May, so that's what brought the name to mind.

I love Mae! I think it's fine if she was born in May. I usually like Mae as a middle name, but I think it also works for a first. I love Mae Virginia!
I much prefer Mae to May. I think it's sweet, simple and timeless while still uncommon as a first name. I'm undecided if her being born in May makes it better or worse. I definitely wouldn't find it bad for Mae to have a May birthday. (Ps good luck conceiving. I'm trying for a May baby too!!)
I like the idea of it as a first name. It doesn't feel formal enough for me; although it certainly worked for Mae West and Mae Jemison and I wouldn't bat an eye if I saw it as a given name. I really like it as a nickname for Maeva or Maylis.
I strongly prefer Mae. Mae feels like a name to me, while May still feels like a word to me.

I do not care for it and never really have. It seems unnecessarily plump and rotund to me. With beautiful alternatives like Maia, I do not see why anyone would choose dowdy May/Mae.
Most people wouldn't assume that a May person had a May birthday. May has been in use for humans long before they started naming each other April!
I like May very much and Mae not at all. May is clear and straightforward, and works equally well as a nn for names like Mary and Mabel. Mae just looks sleazy.

I like it. I prefer the Mae spelling. I think it's okay for a girl born in May. It's an established name, so it's not like naming a girl born in October October.
Mae to me is assertive and bold, someone who stands up for herself. May is a sweet but too shy and retiring woman. That's why I prefer Mae.

Hi Speck !!!
May is lovely if the girl will be born due this month!
I also love the Roman name Maia (http://www.behindthename.com/name/maia-2) from which the month comes from.
