Re: Talk to me about Frida

I ADORE Frida Kahlo, I even wrote my Bachelor of Arts essay in art history about her! I really like Frida pronounced in Spanish, it sounds so much more fiery than when said in Swedish.
But I wouldn't use Frida, mainly because I have a cousin called Frida. It was a very trendy name in the 80's. My cousin's name is Frida Linnea, so that's the first combo I come to think of.
Frida Kahlo's birth name was Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón (she changed the spelling from Frieda to Frida during WWII because she thought it sounded too German).
Frida means "beautiful" in Old Norse.

Interesting that it was super popular in the 80s! Does it have a really dated feel to it now, to you at least?
Maybe not dated, but today a Frida is more likely to be the young mother than the newborn baby.
