oooh i kind of love it?? makes me think of a librarian with a shaved head and intricate nail art. or a grandma who can fight.it sounds somehow more natural of a feminine form than Albertine. and Verdi is super cute.

It’s a bit “out there,” but not bad.

I can see it in reality, but I am not crazy about the sound. It would be a unique way to honor an Alfred, however I like the Alvedine option listed on this site (see link below). That would change the nickname to Vedi though. https://www.behindthename.com/name/alverdine/submitted
Verdi reminds me of the color green.
I think there is a famous composer with the surname Verdi too, so that is a cool connection.

It’s got a nice sound. What’s the origin?

Supposedly, it's related to Alfred.I'm guessing it was invented in the 1800s? Used when names like Alva, Albertine, Geraldine, Nadine, Veda, and Vera were popular.I saw Vertie mentioned sort of recently, and was reminded of Verdi.

It kind of reminds me of almondine (as in, garnished by almonds) but not so much that that would be all I think of. Alv- is not a sound I enjoy so the name isn't really something I like, but I'd be pretty excited to come across one. Verdi is a fun nickname.
