So it happened...
Today I met a baby named Eevee. Yep, spelled like the pokémon. WDYT?
I dislike Evie normally. I think Eevee looks pretty silly to anyone who doesn't know pokémon and too obvious for anyone who does.

At least it’s better than naming your kid Pikachu.
Just to give them the benefit of the doubt, it’s entirely possible that they’ve never heard of the pokemon, and arrived at the cutesy name and the “unique” spelling all on their own. It sounds exactly like something that this generation of namers would think up.
I like Evie as a nickname for Evelyn. Evie by itself is a little too nicknamey and cutesy to be a name on its own, and spelling it like the Pokemon is only going to ensure a lot of annoyance for the poor kid having to spell it all the time.
That's a whole lot of EEs for a 5 letter name...
Evie would have been a lot better. Eevee looks like I should be saying EEEE-veeee, instead of EE-vee.

I saw a BA for an Eevee a few weeks ago, and it made the SSA data last year, so it's not like they're the first.
I don't think it's that big a deal. Like, at all. It's nerdy, but it's a positive association.

I mean, they're the cutest pokémon ever, but seriously?? That's not name for a child.
Are they gonna name her siblings Squirtle, Pidgey, and Jigglypuff?

If my full name was Eevee, I'd feel like I'd missed out because it could have been something like Elowen Vashti (E.V.) "Eevee" instead.
I don't think Eevee is a terrible spelling for Evie; at least no one's going to mispronounce it. The pokémon association is irrelevant to me.

I wouldn't bet on no one mispronouncing it. My name is spelled phonetically, and it gets mispronounced all the time. You're giving people too much credit, haha.
