Australian Newspaper Names- Ipswich
So I've finally finished my tally of names of children who started school this January in the Ipswich, Queensland area here in Australia. There were 4137 children from 93 schools, all of whom are 5 or turning 5 before the end of June. This year I also did a tally of children who started school in the Gold Coast area (which I posted last month). There were a few names that ranked high on one list but not the other: Ava, Isla and Savannah were more popular on the GC whereas Amelia, Jack and Charlotte were higher on the Ipswich list. Ava and Oliver topped the GC; Oliver and Amelia won out in Ipswich. Here is the link:https://www.behindthename.com/bb/baby/5009074As for the comparison from the same area last year, Ruby and Jackson blitzed the rest in 2018. This year there were only 15 students named Ruby compared to last year's 40! Jackson, also the name of 40 kids last year, dropped to 31 in 2019. A lot more 5-year-old-Aussies are named Sophia, Harrison and Jack than the now 6-year-olds of last year. Link:https://www.behindthename.com/bb/baby/4929128Anyway, enough of that.
