Theoretically I don't see why it couldn't be used on a boy as easily as on a girl, since it's a place name. Realistically, people will usually assume that someone named Cheyenne is a girl.Personally I generally find place names to be tacky, for whatever reason. Maybe it's because parents seem to be naming their child after their fantasy of what that place is like.

I've met one but I still think it sounds feminine.(also I think of the city when I hear "Cheyenne", I only remember the tribe after. And then the character from "Reba")

I don’t like it for either gender. Even if you understand all the nuances of history and meaning that the name represents to First Nations peoples, and most people who would use the name won’t, it still feels wrong. If any one culture oppressed another, or in this case attempted to full-out eradicate it, people from the oppressing culture should not get to adopt elements from the oppressed one because they now think that culture is cool. There is too much baggage, and to pretend otherwise is ignorant and insensitive. There are so many beautiful names in the world, including ones for boys that are beautiful and soft. I would personally let this one go.

I don't like it for either gender, it feels kind of disrespectful to me.

Guessing no one knows Cheyenne Jackson? He's an actor. I know him from Broadway, but he's done films and television too.
Apparently his father is Native American, but he was named after the TV series Cheyenne.I like it a lot.
Cheyenne brings the culture to mind quite strongly though so I think the person bearing that name does need to have some connection to the Native American tribe in order to use it.

I do... sort of. I honestly had to look him up. He definitely looks familiar but with just the name alone, I wouldn't of had any indication of who he was. But even with him, the name still sounds very much feminine.

Not a fan of that idea at all, sorry. I can only see it on a female.

I have a friend (f) named Cheyenne, and this makes it seem 100% feminine

I'm going to say 'nah'. I don't like it as a name, period, but if it's going to be used, it should be for a girl. It sounds very feminine.
