Saul
This was my grandfather's name. Is this ridiculous on a child today?

It's not one of my favourite names, but I don't think it's ridiculous.

I don't think so, but to me it feels like a very heavy, almost harsh name.

I don’t find it ridiculous, wouldn’t it fit in the “Hebrew chic” trend along with the likes of, say, Ezra?

I love it. I don't find it ridiculous at all. It's short and to the point. In with the Old Testament name trend we've had going without being too on point with the ending in -ah. I think it's due for a comeback.

No I think it is nice

No, it's not ridiculous. But I don't care for it much. It makes me think of slimy things. I don't like Paul either, but if I had to choose, I'd choose Paul.

Not ridiculous at all. I think it’s a good name, I prefer it to Paul.

You could do worse. I think it's usable, but not especially attractive or youthful. I have met two Sauls, both young and both Hispanic, don't know if it's now popular with Hispanics in general or if it's more popular for Jewish people, as it does have a pretty strong elderly-Jewish-man vibe.
I much prefer Paul. The Bible Saul did too, apparently.

I went to school with a Saul which would make him in his early-20s now - so still pretty young! I guess because of this I never saw the name as odd because I knew someone IRL but it certainly is on the unusual side.I wouldn't say ridiculous, no. Not when the child might be growing up with friends named Bear, Axxyn and Delight.

I don’t think it’s ridiculous, but I don’t think it’s a super great name either.
The first thing I think of is the Biblical Saul, who was not a very nice fellow.
After that, I think of it as a Hispanic name, because there is a huge Hispanic population near me, and a LOT of little Hispanic boys are named Saul, pronounced Sow-ool... and I really don’t like that either.

I honestly really like it and even prefer it to Paul, even though I have an uncle named that. But to answer your question, no I don't find Saul ridiculous on a modern day child. It would be a pleasant surprise to come across one, not because I think the name sounds dated but because of how uncommon it is. A familiar name that you don't often come across.
Similar to the name Paul, Saul to me is an timeless and ageless name. (:

Nope; I've met a couple, all of them Jewish I think. I prefer Paul, but for no good reason. If it was my granddad, I'd keep it as a middle name but once again, that's just me.

No, I love Solomon and think Saul could be cute, especially since the meaning's sweet, and it's got a family connection for you.
