Adrian
As a kid, I had a (girl) friend in ballet named Adrian and thought it was the greatest name. I think this is the spelling she used, not Adrienne. Adrienne just seems so long... only 2 more letters, but still just looks so long to me. Adriana is ok, but wouldn't use it.We watched the original Rocky movie last night so I remembered this name and still rather like it.What do you think of Adrian on a girl? What about Adrienne?

Love it for a boy only.

I like it. I used to know an Adrienne pronounced Adrian (and I didn't know she spelled it Adrienne for a long time). Now I know one girl named Adrian and one named Adriana. I've never met a boy named Adrian.I think Adrienne is fine if you pronounce it ay-dree-ENN, but if you're going to pronounce it like Adrian, then just use Adrian. Or Adrien if you think Adrian looks masculine. My favorite for a girl would probably be Adrien. (using my own judgement as an English speaker, obviously Adrien doesn't look feminine in French but I think it looks feminine in English when compared to Adrian.)

Adrian is 100% male to me. I much prefer Adrienne or at least Adriane on a girl. I don’t really like Adriana, though, as it feels forced.

I don’t like it for a girl. I’ve never known of a female Adrian only an Adrienne and an Adrianna.
As a male name I like it though I prefer Hadrian.

I love Adrian enough to use it as a fn, so I'd never consider Adrienne. Adrian is 100% male to me. And I've only known two Adrienne people: one a beautiful, tennis-playing schoolgirl from a wealthy family who mysteriously got TB, and the other a teacher who looked plump and harmless and cuddly but was actually very tough indeed.

Funny, I met an Adriana and a female Julian today. Adrian seems in the middle of those.
I've never thought it's the greatest name (don't like the meaning), but I don't dislike hearing it IRL.I don't consider Adrian exclusively masculine like I would Adrianus / Adriano, so it seems passably unisex to me.
Adrienne makes sense to me as feminine, because it's French, and the masculine is Adrien.
Making it French to distinguish gender does seem unnecessary.

Adrian is a masculine name to me.
It's handsome on a guy, but clunky on a woman, to me. A fad that passed, rip.
I don't mind Adrienne, but it sounds so much like Adrian that I still feel it's clunky.
I think Adriana and Adria are better. This woman is not named Adrian, but the way the aviator sunglasses look on her, reminds me of how I feel about Adrian as a woman's name.

AdriaOooh, I like Adria. Adriana is too much for me. I think I just am not drawn to names ending in -ana.I love Audra but can't use as it's a friend's name. Adria is nicely similar.I've only ever known one Adrian, on a very feminine and graceful girl, so I suppose that has shaped my view of the name as feminine. But I really like Adria better. Thank you.

I love Audra too.I once met a child named Adria when I took my own kids to the park. Her mother said that if Adria had been a boy she would have been an Adrian. I can't understand why Adria isn't more popular. It's very usable! It's better than Aria or Ava, IMO.

So now I'm wondering...How would it be pronounced?Ay-dree-uhAaa in apple, Aaaa-dree-uhOr ah in father, Ahhh-dree-uh??I could see it being pronounced multiple ways, which would get tiresome.

Knowing it's a form of Adrian I would say AY-dree-uh, but if I just saw Adria on its own I might say the A like apple.

I just naturally say it like Adrian without the n: AY-dree-uh
That's how the mother I met said her daughter's name.
Adrian is different in other languages, so Adria would be as well - it's a nonissue IMO, IRL people almost always learn names by hearing before they read them.

Not keen on it as a feminine name. I only like Adriana as a feminine form, Adrienne is too close to Adrien, the French masculine form. Not keen on Adriana as a name, while I love Adrian / Adrien. Though I do now associate Adriana with Adriana Caselotti, the voice of Snow White who's career took a drastic negative turn after the role. Walt Disney disallowed her to have any other role wanting her voice to remain Snow's only. She was also never credited on the movie. To this day she isn't credited on the movie. On Disney's streaming site, she's a side note in the info box. All of her roles were uncredited because nobody was knowingly allowed to hire the voice of Snow White. Disney himself just becomes more and more unlikable. He was a fantastic visionary and I love many of his works, but he was such a knob. My point is I associate it with a tragic actress from the 1930s. I might like this name more given time, Adriana herself isn't a bad association at all as she was apparently a very sweet old woman, and Adriana has a vintage charm to it. I now associate it with Snow White's "I'm Wishing" song.
