I pronounce them differently and was surprised that some people pronounce them the same. I like Tanya and think it really hasn't ever had the popularity it deserves.

I definitely pronounce them differently. I prefer Tanya, I think, slightly more. They are both pretty brassy names, and I respect that about them. I still think of Tonya Harding whenever I see the name (either version), so it has a very "blue eyeliner and crimped hair" vibe going on for it, with a slight undercurrent of Imperial Russia. A very complex name!

I pronounce them the same. Tanya looks better. I wouldn’t use either, but don’t mind seeing the occasional Tanya.

I say both the same way. Visually I prefer Tanya but I'm not really a fan of the name in general. I've never met a nice Tanya/Tonya/Tonia.
